NO FRAGRANCE OILS

Fragrance oils would make our soaps cheaper, but we cannot always verify what's inside them so we absorb the extra cost and use only Essential Oils instead for our products.

Actually Natural

We take great pride in using only natural ingredients and this will not change. Base oils include Greek Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, and we use natural exfoliant like grounded oatmeal for a peeling effect.

Currently, our Greek Olive Oil comes from the island of Crete.

We take great pride in using Olive Oil from an island that has cultivated olives since ancient times, but since I (Alex) grew up on the island of Evia, I made it Alderwald's mission to produce olive oil from the island and use in our products by end of 2026.

ALDERWALD'S GRAND MISSION:

RESTORING EVIA'S OLIVE GROVES

Greece’s olive-growing heritage is under increasing pressure from hotter summers, drought, and wildfires. On the island of Evia, large areas of land have been affected in recent years, and many groves are being left behind.

Where olive trees once survived with minimal intervention, maintaining a grove now often means extra work, resources, and irrigation, costs many families struggle to carry.

I (Alex) grew up on Evia, and in 2007 wildfires tore through the area around Aliveri. Seeing first-hand what that does to the land, and to families who rely on it, is the reason this matters to me. Through Alderwald, I’m working to help restore olive groves and keep this tradition alive by turning that oil into soap, something people use every day.

My family and I have already started taking on abandoned groves as part of that long-term effort.

A small milestone, years in the making.
Preserving an ancient tradition

Our first
olive grove

My family and I bought our first abandoned olive grove in mid-2024. The trees hadn't produced any olives for years.

After a year of clearing and care, we harvested 250 kg of olives and took them to our local press, yielding 80 kg of olive oil.

For us, that was the moment this stopped being an idea and became real.
My family and I were ecstatic.

What the future holds

Alderwald's
next steps

Our goal is to move towards 100% self-produced olive oil over time, with the next major step targeted for 2026, so when you buy a soap from us, a little piece of Evia island arrives at your door.

We want to expand our Olive Groves by buying more Groves that were abandoned and/or destroyed by wildfires and help keep Evia’s olive-growing tradition alive.

As we take on more neglected land, the work is practical: clearing, replanting where needed, improving irrigation, and building resilience against fire seasons, while supporting local labour and services around Aliveri.

Alderwald is built on small, measurable progress. When you choose our soap, you’re not just buying a bar, you’re also backing the work behind the ingredients.
